Working on a NEW Attitude

Anyone that knows me knows that I am a sensitive person. Well, it is time for a change. I know I will always be sensitive, but I am done always worrying about others and how they will feel and how will they be affected and how long is his recovery time and how many people will know about this issue and blah blah blah.
You see, it has taken me 35 plus years to realize I do NOT have the power to change any of the above mentioned possibilities and ultime end results. I do have the power to be there when I am needed, but throwing myself under a moving bus is not necessary. I have to take care of myself as it is...and I cannot do that if I am forever taking care of everyone else. I have been a mother hen far too long. Time for a change.

When is it time to say good bye?

At what point is it considered too much work to be someone's friend? How much crap should one person have to put up with before throwing in the towel? And based on the amount of time you know the friend, maybe under a year, how much grieving should one be allowed to go through or how much is even deemed appropriate?
I am obvioulsy in the process of going through all of this myself...just wanted to get your perspective on friendships / relationships.

WOW, another exhausting weekend was had by all.
It started out pretty calm Friday evening. Kev and I went to visit my sister in The Woodlands. My neice had a baby a few weeks ago and it was time for me to pay a visit and take some adorable outfits out there for the little tyke. He was very cute, only he is SOOO small. We usually have LARGE babies in my family, so this little guy wieghing in at 7 pounds on his 4 week checkup is a little different. No matter, he has cuteness written all over him.

Saturday was a pretty calm day during the day. I had to take my car in for service...I already have 14K miles on this thing and it is only 6 months old. I guess I am driving a bit too much, but oh well, that is what a car is meant to do. Saturday night was dinner with a group of friends. We laughed plenty, drank even more plentiful, and then made our way to the BRB for a night of dancing. It was LUEY Weekend in Houston so there were TONS of men in the bar early. There were plenty of leather daddies, some looked incredibly HOT, others should have stayed home! I just cannot get used to the 300 pound guy wearing a leather thong and nothing else...sorry, I know that might offend some, but it is just not my thing...YUCK!!!!
No matter, we danced and laughed a ton. I was hoping to catch up with my little cajun hottie Brett, but he was too tired after a ton of tennis and was not able to make it out. Oh well, I will be sure to catch up with him soon...guess I will just have to get myself to Austin for his tennis tourney in a few weeks.

Today was filled with yardwork. Spring is in the air, and I just could not resist hitting the nursery after having lunch with my mom this afternoon. Of course, that meant I had to come home and do a ton of weeding and prepping the beds, but it must be done and the weather was PERFECT for it today.

I know, it sounds like a pretty boring weekend to some, but this is what my life is made of these days. Playing with my family, playing with my friends, and spending time at home getting ready for pool days soon. Wait, how can this sound boring to anyone...this is exciting stuff. LOL

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well.

Look who is back!!!
Yes, I have been gone for much too long...but I have been incredibly swamped. That of course is my excuse and I am sticking to it. I have been traveling quite a bit since my last post about New York. I have been back to New York twice since then, been to Virginia again for work, and went to Vail for one of the best ski weeks I have ever had.
I will be getting the pics posted as soon as possible...and I promise, I will be better about blogging now.
I have been inspired by a couple of new bloggers out there, both have been added to my blogroll. Both are in California, one is Gorgeous and the other is Jasons Room. Take a look at them, they are great reads, and not bad on the eyes in any way! Beautiful men...absolutely beautiful.

Back at Work...but ready for another vacation!

Well, as I mentioned before, I survived New York. I had a great time, but coming back to work is always difficult. Maybe it is because I am just in that holiday mood...you know, being off, eating, sleeping, drinking, and just enjoying life? Oh well, I have to work to pay that lovely mortgage and to allow myself future trips away.
I am preparing for another trip to Virginia. I will be there from January 2 through the 5th. It is for work, but it will also allow me to catch up with some old friends I have not seen in about a year. After that, I am off to New York, AGAIN! I will be there from January 12th through the 16th. I am sure I will be going back to the Big Apple Ranch to do a little boot scootin...and of course hitting EVERY pizza shop in town.
This is an annual trip for me, so it is pretty planned out upon my arrival. I catch up with my old buddies for a few too many drinks and generally just enjoy myself. It is a pretty stress-free trip, and that is a huge plus at this point. After this little excursion, I will probably not travel too much for a couple of months. Things are going to heat up in the office again...meaning I will be chained to my desk and chair.
I am posting a few pics from my last NY trip with more on the way later.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas just in case I am not able to catch up with you before the holiday.

Survival of the Fittest

I survived another trip to wonderful New York. I saw things this trip I have never seen before...the tree in Rockefeller, the kids all skating on the ice rink, the street of Angels, the window displays were beautiful, but I did not get to see the snow this trip. There were supposed to be flurries Friday when I landed, but unfortunately, there were none. It was bitterly cold when I arrived...the wind chill was in the single digits...but plenty of alcohol managed to keep me pretty warm.
I was a little surprised by the amount of people that were in the city over the weekend. I was totally expecting it to be a little busier, but I never thought it would be as insane as it was. One young lady I spoke to while I was shopping told me that the population almost doubles during the month of December due to everyone from the closer states coming over to shop. It was NOT hard to believe at all.
I made it to the Big Apple Ranch...a nice little country and western bar on 19th. I met a friend of mine that flew up from Houston as well there Saturday night and we just danced the night away! It is always nice to have someone meet you in a far away place that you like to be with...makes the trip that much more entertaining.
I hit PLENTY of clubs and bars while I was there...and honestly, I was really kind of over it after night one. I like going out as much as the next guy, but I was really tired by the time I worked all day Friday, then flew up there and partied until 7am the next morning. But of course, 2.5 hours later I was back up shpping.
I did manage to finish my Christmas shopping while I was there...and had to ship a lot of stuff back, but that was already expected. The kids are going to score BIG TIME from Uncle Dean this year...I went a little crazy. Oh well, all is fun when it is for the kiddos.
I am hoping to have my pics ready to post by the end of the week...I am not as fast as some of you guys about actually getting pics out of my camera and on my computer. Look for them in the very near future though.

NEW YORK- HERE I COME

It is that time again, New York bound! Yeah! I am leaving tomorrow afternoon to enjoy the city for 4 wonderful days. I have never seen the tree in Rockefeller so that is a must for me. Other than that, I am just going to shop till I drop. I am almost finished with my Christmas Shopping, but I am sure once I get there, I will find a ton of things I forgot about.
It has been a rough couple of weeks for me, and this break is much needed.

I have managed to lose that few pounds I managed to put on over the Thanksgiving break, plus several more. I am only 7 pounds away from my all time low weight. I need to finish dropping this...and it will be even tougher now that I will be in pizza heaven in NY.

Oh well, willpower...not my strongest trait, but I will survive.
